The West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Sunday debunked speculations that release
date for the May/June 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results may be extended.
The exam body confirmed that the results were ready and would be released on Wednesday July 19 by the Head of the Nigeria National Office, Mr Olu Adenipekun.
This was made known in a series of tweets by the council, via its Twitter account@waecnigeria.
“There will be a Press Briefing by the Head of National Office to announce the release of the results on or before Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
“This is our results-checking site”
“Scratch cards can be obtained at any WAEC office near you, cyber cafes, business centers, etc.”
Reacting to a question by @baniyamin9 on schools that may have their results withheld, WAEC responded: “We will get to know that during the Press Briefing to announce the release of the results.”
It, however, explained that schools with such cases were those that “violate the rules and regulations guiding the conduct of our examination”.
For GCE registration forms, WAEC announced that the closure is Friday, July 28, 2017, and that “Extension cannot be confirmed yet”.
For those who have lost their certificates, the exam body said: “We don’t issue certificates twice. You can apply for ’Attestation of Results’ at any of our offices nearest to you”.
