The group described the 63 latest appointees of the governor, including Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson as appointees of the governor, including Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson as “political jobbers, hangers on, marauders,” adding that the appointees have nothing to offer the state.
The group's position was made known in a statement distributed to media houses on Wednesday, March 15 by its national coordinator, Usman Austin Okai.
The group described the appointments as irrational, uncoordinated, a waste of public funds, and wanton disservice to the state.
The statement read in part: “The appointees of Governor Yahaya Bello are political jobbers, hangers on, and marauders; who have constituted themselves as nuisance to the government with nothing to offer to drive the regime.
“Asides the governor appointing the largest retinue of aides in the North central zone of the country, at the expense of payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, the new appointees have little knowledge or nothing to contribute to oil the wheel of governance in the state.
“With over 30 Special Advisers (SAs), 90 Senior Special Assistants (SSAs),‎ and an unspecified numbers of Special Assistants; the recent addition of 63 aides is outrageous.
“It is particularly condemnable to attract Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson into Kogi governance just for the sake of settling personal scores. The state cannot afford to comfortably pay N350, 000 monthly to an artiste based in Lagos.
“We advise Mercy Johnson and others to turn down their appointments.”
Meanwhile, the actress has reacted to her appointment. She made her stance known via her Instagram page.
She wrote: "I am gratified with the official notification reaching me on my appointment as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Kogi state on entertainment, arts and culture.
"I am humbled, as i duely acknowledge this attending responsibility to serve my great state with the modest experience I have gathered over the years.
"With depth of gratitude, I want to thank the governor of Kogi state; His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his wife, the first lady of Kogi state, Her Excellency Mrs Rashida Bello for this unparallel opportunity to serve."

Don’t allow us to labour in vain, ex-St. Gregory College workers beg Nigerians

Editor’s note: The cases of employer/employees’ rift have become more pronounced in the recent time and there should be a way by which the government should come in to ensure this issue is addressed.
In this article, Obiagwu Vitalis Chigozie, asks Nigerians to compel the management of St. Gregory College, Ikoyi, Lagos, to pay his and other worker’s N960,000 outstanding salaries.
My name is Obiagwu Vitalis Chigozie from IMO state in Orlu residing in Lagos Apapa and was working at St Gregory's College until last year December.

Rev Father Emmanuel Ayeni is the new administrator of St Gregory's College Ikoyi South West under the catholic archdiocese of Lagos.
My colleague Mr Richard Akintunde Fawale and I were working at St Gregory's supermarket which was owned by the Parent Teachers’ Association (PTA) of the college for seven years now until Rev Ayeni took over from the formal administrator and an old boy of the college, Rev Monsignor Akpala.
He started with the word CHANGE like that of APC part and there is fear among the teachers and even the students and many quit their work because of his threat and some were sacked because of little mistake and everyone in the college is beginning to live in fear and people do their work with anger and presence because the Rev Father wanted a perfect worker, I mean a 100% perfect staff.
He changed a lot in the school even to make the school compound beautiful but not lively again.
Just last year December after vacation, Rev Fr Emmanuel Ayeni called my colleague and I and told us why his change has not reached in our shop that our services are no more needed even when we are not working under him
He sacked us and I didn't ask why because we have been expecting that for long now.
All I asked was our outstanding 16 months’ salary that our boss, the PTA chairman was supposed to pay us but didn't due to the misunderstanding or mismanagement of account he had with the Rev Father Ayeni.
When I asked for our salary he told us that he or the PTA could not pay us any money that we should find any how to get our money or we should go and meet the chairman who just stepped down for the new one to enter.
So since January till now I have been going to the Archbishop office that I met on January and reported to him and he asked me to put everything into writing. And I did that right away and Bishop wrote to the Rev father but since January, they have been telling me to come tomorrow, come next week.

For me to be paid the money I work for. Help me rebroadcast or anyhow you can do it until the news gets to the top. Our money is 960,000. Everything I said here is the truth. I can never give up my money.
